John Carl Iacono is a multidisciplinary artist whose life and career span fine art, film, sculpture, music, and education. After receiving a full scholarship and living on Treasure Island during his formative artistic years, he pursued a path that blended classical discipline with contemporary exploration. He later taught at the university level with the New York Film Academy, and contributed to major film productions including SpongeBob SquarePants, The Day After Tomorrow, Constantine, The Aviator, and Fresh.
His early career included numerous gallery exhibitions and a strong street-art presence, supported by a foundation in figure drawing, sculpture, and guild modeling. In addition to his Bachelor’s degree in
Computer Science, he holds an AA in Art History, bridging traditional craft with technical fluency.
Four years ago, a life-altering accident — being thrown from a vehicle — marked a profound turning point. During recovery, he made the conscious decision to release his former identity: deleting his archives, social media presence, exhibitions, and past works. From a hospital bed, he began again — not as a continuation, but as a rebirth. What followed was a deeper, metaphysical reconnection to why he pursued art in the first place. In collaboration with Ghada Jamal, he co-founded Jamal Iacono, an unprecedented collaborative practice in which two artists paint simultaneously on the same canvas — resulting in a groundbreaking
and highly successful gallery exhibition. Their philosophy reflects a belief that art is not merely about the individual, but about shared vision — the “we” rather than the “me.” Together, they documented the Livermore wine valley and surrounding hills across all four seasons, a body of work that continues to evolve.
